I don't understand why this book is as popular as it is. Don't get me wrong though….it is still worth it. I only don't think its the best. I read the whole book and it helped me review the medicine in General. Information technology's the excellent number of cases that works but they don't get into the item I would like. If you have few people to practise with information technology is not intuitive for your "examiner" to administer. I wish they listed the doses as they went (if it is a medicine we should take memorized) and for the burn instance they had they didn't even say what pct of fire they calculated. True, this is all stuff y'all could wait upwards in other books but I want to know about THAT case. The little review of high yield facts is good. I think they best book is Commencement Aid for the oral boards and was really hoping a new edition would come out. It is the best for using with some other person (especially if your examiner has less medical background). Beginning Aid lists, over and over, exactly what y'all should say and goes in great particular (sometimes painfully so) for each case. I felt first assist volume is ideal for initial study. This book though is an excellent improver to the First Aid volume. If you have little time get First Assistance, if more get BOTH. I did not try Rivers. I took the review form in Chicago Illinois ACEP; information technology was Amazing. It was intense but worth it. I figure anyone reading this review is looking for oral board study material advice 🙂
My wife used this to pass her EM boards recently. I played examiner for many of these cases, and it was easy for me to help her study despite the fact that I'yard non an ER doc. Some medical groundwork is probably very helpful if you plan to play "examiner" and help someone with the cases. Plenty of cases were included, and at that place is adept detail on what would be considered "critical actions" versus other points to know. It was sometimes difficult to show EKGs or imaging pictures without showing the residuum of the text to requite the instance away, but easily remedied with a piece of scratch newspaper.
